Make a difference for nature today

Biodiversity continues to decline under pressure from farming practices, infrastructure planning and, of course, climate change. The UK has seen declines in >50% of plant and animal species; only 3% of our meadows are left compared to before World War Two; we are one of Europe’s least-wooded countries; most of our orchards are gone; many plant species are in decline along with the animal communities they support.

Here are at Woodmeadow Trust we want to address the dramatic decline in biodiversity through the creation of woodmeadow.  A truly biodiverse ecosystem, comprising of wildflower meadow, lots of ‘messy edges’, grassland merging into a graduated woodland edge with flowering and fruiting shrubs, and small trees ranging through to a high canopy of forest trees.  All providing the structural diversity that provides a haven for wild range of wildlife, a haven buzzing with insects, alive with birdsong and replete with the wildflowers and grasses they all depend on.

By donating, you are helping us create these vital woodland ecosystems that not only benefit our threatened native wildlife but give people greater and easier access to the joy and beauty of nature.

Alternatively donate by cheque, internet banking or standing order

Woodland management is a long term business, so if you would consider giving over several years we should be particularly grateful. Perhaps you would like to Become a Friend and have a your own specific patch of woodmeadow. Please read more about our Become a Friend scheme, Become a Benefactor schome and Corporate scheme.

Why your donation matters

No matter how small your gift, giving to The Woodmeadow Trust can make a real contribution to the environment and our work of raising tomorrow’s ancient woodlands:

  • £10 will allow us to enhance one square metre of woodland floor or meadow with native perennial plants that will host bees, butterflies and moths
  • £50 will allow us to nurture 100 trees for a year
  • £100 will allow us to teach a group of children about woodland and plant life
  • £600 will enable us to buy weather recording equipment
  • £1000 will allow us to source stock perennials of local provenance for enhancing woodland meadow
  • £2000 will enable us to produce education packs to teach tree or wild flower identification

We would be glad to acknowledge all donations of £500 or more on our website.
